BEACH WAVES & THE CITY

Beach waves are no longer just for the beach, or so it seems according to the chicest of city slickers.  We're all trying to re-create that tousled, salt-laden look.  You know the one, that looks like you just scrunched it to dry naturally, when in fact it took hours of curling and products to create the look!

So it seems the look is more 'second day soft wave' than perfectly groomed curl and that goes for city girls as well as beach babes.

Here's how I create mine...

Start with clean, straight hair that you've brushed through well.  Scoop half up into a clip and brush through again.  Spray each section with hairspray to stiffen it a little, this starts to create a 'salty' feel.

Talk inch size sections of hair starting from the back.  Use ceramic flat irons such as GHDs, and start curling, holding the irons upright from around halfway down the hair.  You want to create a half straightened, half curled look almost.  Complete each section until you finish at the top of the head and frame the face how you like it to look.  Finally, spray to hold and brush through gently to loosen up the curl and let the waves form.  Spray with hairspray, scrunch up and go!  You can see from the last picture in the bottom right that it is slightly curled and tousled, a definite 'second day hair' appearance.

Here's some looks I love, it takes practice, but you'll get there!

Stay beachy city girls
xoxo
