HOW TO WEAR SPRING'S FRESHEST NEW LOOK

I know I live in sunny Southern California now, so am lucky enough for the sun to shine year round, but as a Brit girl moved Stateside, I do know what it means to see those first breaks of sunshine and the feeling that you can pack your woollies away!

Well that time is nigh, so don't get caught with only a chunky sweater to wear on a sunny day, when you could have lifted your mood and your look with spring pastels and florals.

Follow my simple SPRING STYLE TIPS and try these three simple looks that will work for you whether you're headed out for a lunch with friends, weekend away, springtime shopping or an evening out.

SPRINGTIME LOOK NO. 1: DAYTIME CASUAL

Pastels are back and rise to the fore every Spring, it's something about their light airy colors that suddenly feels so fresh as the nights draw out and the days seem brighter.  Don't be afraid to mix them up, as long as all the undertones are the same this will work.  Team mint with lilac and pink or baby blue.  Add tan accessories to keep the look edgy and not too sickly sweet.

Blazers are a lighter way to layer and keep out the chill.  For an investment blazer, try Reiss and for a chiconomista take try New Look or Primark.

SPRINGTIME LOOK NO.2: WEEKEND AWAY

Shorts don't have to just be for your vacation, teamed with the right pieces they add a modern feel to a spring/summer outfit.  Add wedges or booties so the look is more styled than a shorts and flip flops effort!

Stripes and floral mix is huge this Spring and adds interest to a simple outfit.  Layer again with a blazer and a neutral scarf, which you can simply and easily peel off as the rays appear!

I added a statement purse in the form of this true classic YSL clutch, whilst you may have to save some pennies, you'll be sure to pull it out time and time again.  It will pull any look together and add class wherever you're headed!  Nude patent clutches are everywhere this season, try ASOS.com or Primark for a chiconomista version.

SPRINGTIME LOOK NO.3: DESK TO DINNER

As much as I'm in love with sugary pastels and pattern clashes like floral and stripes, this is my favorite look of all three.  Asymmetrical styles rocked the catwalks and have made their presence known for SS '14, whether it is in skirts, tops or even shoes.

The elegance of this look will take you effortlessly from desk to dinner.  The color combo is classic, whilst still lightening up your wardrobe transitioning you simply from winter to spring.

Midi skirts are here to stay for a while and skirts themselves have seen a big comeback in every style!  This version could even be teamed with a loose knit and booties for a more casual take and would definitely form a staple for the winter months too.  Try Reiss for an investment midi or Primark for a seasonal trend version.
