HOW TO LAYER THIS FALL

TOP 5 TIPS FOR LAYERING

1. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ADD & SUBTRACT
Layering is about piling it on, creating a look that looks, well like you haven't even tried.  So keep piling on those layers, taking off or adding as you go to really tweak the look.

A staple layer will always be a cover-up/wrap/shawl (in the chicest sense of the word!), this is the perfect addition to any look for a great layered look.  It is also a great way of wearing those bulkier under layers with ease and still keeping in the warmth.

2. MIX YOUR FABRICS & PRINTS
It is the perfect season for layering with all the rules flying out the window when it comes to mixing prints and fabrics!  Mix textures like leather, chunky knits and faux fur with each other as much as classic animal print with floral, polka dot or plaid for an edgy look that is cosy and chic!  The key with mixing prints is to keep the color tones the same and it will look surprisingly pulled together.

3. CHOOSE A STAPLE ITEM
Choosing one staple item is always a great place to start with any outfit and as the core of a layered look, whether it's a crisp white shirt as the first layer under a sweater and blazer or heavyweight blazer as the starting point to throw on over every look.

4. CONSIDER THE PROPORTIONS
The key with layering is getting the proportions right and no bits of fabric hanging where they shouldn't.  Think about where jacket lengths finish and what's showing underneath, t-shirts and tops will look messy hanging underneath - shirts are ok to hang out under sweaters and jackets if it 's a casual chic look!  Sleeves rolled back actually work well over a longer sleeved tee.

5. THE FORGOTTEN LAYERS
Layering is as much about adding a jacket or sweater, as it is about starting with the right layer.  So that means getting the basics right or adding an accessories layer to complete the look.  Don't fear a real basic and rule it out as boring, when in fact it can often be the missing piece in the outfit jigsaw!
