RAID YOUR MOM'S CLOSET

Not wishing my blog to be all about Kate, it seems lately there's always something fashion-y to say about her.  Not only that, but her choices are in keeping with the laws of chiconomics.

On another Royal visit yesterday to open a Children's Hospice, for which she is patron, Kate chose one of her high street go-tos, REISS.  In true chiconomista style, she chose a dress she'd had for a couple of years and one which her mom, Carole, was seen wearing at Ascot in 2010 teamed with a fascinator that Kate latter wore at a friend's wedding

Another example of style and done our way, reminding us she's really just a normal girl.  A nice touch the day after Mother's Day and for her first public speech and solo visit, as if her mom was there with her in spirit and dress!

So this got me thinking about sharing clothes with mom!  I'm one of the lucky ones.  My mom is super stylish and can wear anything, so I'm often raiding her wardrobe for things that I can style up in my own way.  We're not the same size, but some things work universally, like loose-style chiffon blouses and tees which we've seen on the high street of late.

We do wear the same shoe size, so I love having double the choice of boots and shoes!  I love her accessories drawer too, it makes me laugh when I go to borrow jewellery or scarves and I actually find mine in her collection, where she's borrowed them!  So I'm just borrowing my own back then, right?

Another time, I received a compliment on my shoes from a family friend, as she added 'oh, they're the same as your mom's'!  They were mine both times!  So it seems I'm lost with who is borrowing from who and where the sharing stops and ends, it's all the same to me and my mom!

It's a great law of chiconomics, sharing.  It means you get two for the price of one or say you can't decide between two things, one of you can buy an item each.

One of my trainee Stylists told me once her mom was her style inspiration, which I thought was lovely.  Her mum's youth was in the 80s, so this was the look the Stylist was mimicking and she rocked it.  I love my mom's style when she was my age and living in the US.  Her beautiful olive skin looked amazing against her 70s style minis and halter tops with wide leg flairs.  It's funny then that I have a secret penchant for 70s style prints, colours and styles isn't it?

I always used to think it was great where my friends had sisters they shared with, but as I've got older, I've got an even better 'friend' to share with.  My lovely mom, I love you (and your size 8s!)

PS my mom's nicknamed my blog 'Chicy-peeky', which I quite like the name of!  Fear not, laws of chiconomics still apply, style for less no matter what!
